Description:

The integrated SPITS developments are demonstrated in three events (Intertraffic 2010, SPITS 2010 and GCDC 2011).

For this purpose, three different kinds of demonstrations will be built:

• Demonstration with stand alone module (Retail concept) for Intertraffic 2010:
  The stand alone module lacks hard-wire connections with the car internal systems and is therefore mounted easily in a large number of cars. Driver support systems for mobility improvement are demonstrated on a significant number of cars to ensure a noticeable effect on traffic. Effect studies preliminary to this event will be done using video data and simulation studies.
• Demonstration with Value Added Services and ADAS concepts on OBU for SPITS 2010:
  The Value Added Services (VAS) and ADAS are created using the available modules for the OBU and the RSU and OBU. The hardware OBU concept is demonstrated together with the first concept of the RSU, and the functionality of the VAS in combination with the HMI solution.
• Demonstration with SPITS system concepts during the GCDC 2011:
  The GCDC9 2011 will take place after the end of the project. The preparation of the GCDC 2011 using SPITS system concepts will be done. During the GCDC 2011 teams around the world will be challenged to connect to the car internal systems via CAN or FlexRay for automatic speed adjustment for mobility enhancement.

Communication with RSU for the three events will be specified based on the demonstration scenarios.The integrated SPITS system is tested and validated under real traffic conditions using the above demonstrators. The results of the demonstrations will be used as input for, or verification of, the effect studies.
