Ready-to-deploy ITS results

SPITS has defined an open, affordable, and
scalable platform for future systems, and explored
new techniques in cooperative driving and mobility.
By utilising existing standards and creating
pragmatic solutions and architectures, as well as a
complete set of reference applications, the SPITS
partners have delivered a toolkit that innovators can
easily build upon.

We invite you to experience our ITS developments and the
advantages of cooperative systems during the 8th International
Automotive Congress:

  • Technology show
  • Public road tours
  • Smart mobility sessions

Technology show 120 square meters booth

SPITS crews the largest booth at the Technology Show to
demonstrate the entire platform. We will exhibit the devices, the
communication between them, and the wide variety of developed
applications, categorised in Value for society and Value
for business.

• SPITS architecture, onboard unit, roadside unit, back office
• ‘Pay how you drive’ with a driver simulator and back office unit
• Breakdown call from the onboard unit
• Emergency call at the back office
• On route information: Check, track, and trace, OV9292, and
Priority manager
• Software defined radio
• Map update methods: Car as a Sensor and Incremental map
updates over DAB
• Better traffic flow: Shockwave mitigation and Lane merging
assistant

Public Road Tours Automotive

Join our public road tours and experience SPITS technology and applications in urban and regional traffic situations, and at the cooperative test track on the highway from Eindhoven to Helmond. The tours cover aspects of safety, efficiency, and driver comfort. The applications that are shown are real and live. They clarify how various organisations (both public and private) can participate in the cloud of cooperative systems.

SPITS shuttle tour
During this round-trip you will travel to the High Tech Automotive Campus in Helmond over the A270 and N270 test site. At the campus, the control room of the test site and future plans after SPITS will be shown. You will experience various SPITS  applications that will be further explained. On Monday SMEs  (‘MKB businesses’) will have the opportunity to join a workshop and discuss future mobility developments with TNO experts.

SPITS road tour
The selected route covers urban areas, regional roads, and part
of the A270. Each part of the track will have  its specific characteristics and service needs of the driver. A presenter explains the application and shows how it works. All applications use the SPITS platform. It consists of an onboard unit in the bus, roadside systems along the inner ring of Eindhoven and the A270, and back offices that reside on the Internet.
